HOW TO HANDLE A DENTAL EMERGENCY
First things first—call us. At Inspire Dental we are ready and willing to give you the treatment you need as quickly as possible. Make sure to follow the guidelines below that are specific to your emergency before arriving.
If a tooth has been knocked out: First hold the tooth by its crown (not its root) and try placing it back in its socket. If the tooth will not stay in place, prevent it from drying out by wrapping it in wet gauze, soaking it in milk, or holding it to the inside of your cheek.
If a tooth is cracked: Rinse your mouth out with warm water. To prevent swelling, apply a cold compress to the cheek.
If a tooth is loose: Try putting the tooth back in its original position and bite down firmly to hold it in place.
For tooth pain: First rinse the mouth with warm water, then floss to remove any food that might be settled into the area.
TAKING PRECAUTION
Take these steps to prevent dental emergencies:
Wear a mouth guard when participating in sports or strenuous activities
Avoid chewing things that could potentially crack teeth, such as ice, popcorn kernels or hard candies
Never use your teeth to tear things—use scissors
Call Inspire Dental immediately if you feel you are experiencing a dental emergency. For issues that do not require immediate attention feel free to book an appointment with us online.
Here’s What Our Patients
Are Saying
“I had to take my 6 y.o. son to the dentist to have his baby teeth pulled out, since they were not falling out on their own. It was his first time going to the dentist, and we were both nervous. However, we were so glad to go to Dr. Qureshi. She put my son at ease, and made it a pleasurable experience! He hardly flinched during the whole procedure. She is super friendly, and has great bedside manners. I would highly recommend her, we are her patients for life!”
